Changemaker Series: Fare Pasifika
Skills: User Research, User Experience Design, Web Design, Messaging, Collateral Design
I was selected to be a part of the 2017 Changemaker Series, a unique way for the creative community to address local social challenges. I teamed up with three other creative professionals to form Team Vessel, who worked directly with Fare Pasifika, a non-profit in the PNW working to create a safe and fun environment for Pacific Islanders (PIs) to reconnect with their heritage, learn more about their culture, and build a positive sense of self-identity.
Together, we worked to answer the question “How Might We Engage Immigrant Communities in Their Language and Heritage?”

The AIGA Seattle Changemaker Series unites teams of creative professionals with nonprofits and social change organizations to use design thinking, sustainable frameworks and creative tools to help advance their mission.
Over three months, we conducted research and interviews, did concept mapping, and strategy. We helped Fare Pasifika define their audience, values, and goals. We created a unified verbal identity so they would be consistent in how they talk about themselves and their mission across all members, staff, volunteers, and community.
We gave them a messaging toolkit, built a functioning website that utilizes the new messaging and brand voice, created cards to pass out at events, and offered organized and valuable data about their core audience and community.
